Gain the confidence you need to move your rafting, canoeing and kayaking skills to the next level. This course focuses on self-rescue skills so that you can look after yourself when out on the water and is great for those just entering the whitewater arena or for those who have already dipped a paddle and found it to their liking! This one day course offers a combination of theoretical and practical skill development.

This one day course offers a combination of theoretical and practical skill development.
This course re-certifies those holding a current 80 hour qualification. There is now a requirement for 35 practical hours for certification. The course will will focus on skills and scenario based activitites. Participants are required to complete an online Knowledge Review in addition to a Final Exam, which is also online. Participants must complete the Knowledge Exam. Final Exam and skills components for successful certification.
Course Dates: September 10, 11, 12,18, 19
Course Times: Daily – 9:00am – 5:00pm
This Bridge program raises your current level of certification to one appropriate for guides and leaders, for those who are going on extended and remote expeditions, or for those wishing to work as professional ski patrollers in Alberta. This 5 day program involves a high level of commitment from the learner. Current Adventure Medic or equivalent 40 hour Wilderness First Aid certification is required for the Bridge Course. Certification must be dated no more than 1 year prior to the start date of the bridge course.
This course now requires 35 hours of practical activities. Participants are required to complete a Knowledge Exam online and a Final Exam – online also. For successful certification participants must complete the Knowledge Exam, Final Exam and required skills components of the program.
Course Dates: September 10, 11, 12, 18, 19,
Course Times are as Follows: 9:00 – 5:00 daily
Friday Evening – 6pm – 10pm
Saturday & Sunday – 8:30am – 4:30pm. Course content is presented through a blend of classroom and outdoor activities.
The Wilderness first aid standard in terms of content and course length, this course is suitable for avid outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor activity leaders, teachers and instructors. The program covers patient assessment and treatment; evacuation decision making; environmental emergencies and includes the latest CPR and AED standards. Theory review will be completed online as part of this program with 2 sessions focused on practical activities and outdoor scenarios.

Saturday & Sunday September 11 & 12 – 9:00am – 5:00pm
An ideal course for the back country enthusiast and weekend warriors! This course is not appropriate or adequate for trip leaders, instructors or those undertaking extended travel in remote areas. A Knowledge Review is completed online, as is the Final Exam. Classroom based sessions are 2.5 days. Participants are required to complete the Knowledge Review, Final Exam and Skills Components of the course for successful certification.
Thursday Evening – 6pm – 9:30pm
Saturday – 9:00am – 5pm
Sunday – 9:00am – 5pm Field Day
This is a re-certification course for individuals who have a current 20 – 24 hour Remote Responder or equivalent Wilderness First Aid course. The course will run on one evening and one weekend day. Participants are required to complete an online Knowledge Review prior to the start of the program and the online Final Exam. For certification, participants must successfully complete the Knowledge Review, Final Exam and practical course components.
Thursday – 6:00pm – 9:30pm
Sunday – 9:00am – 5:00pm Field Day
The 5 day (40 hour) re-certification program is a great fit for those who are re-certifying for the first time or for those who prefer their learning to move at a less intense pace. The program offers ample opportunities for discussion, review and practice of both theory and skills and ensures that learners leave with a thorough understanding of course topics. Course runs Thursday – Monday 8:30am – 4:30pm
The Wilderness first aid standard in terms of content and course length, this course is suitable for avid outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor activity leaders, teachers and instructors. The program covers patient assessment and treatment; evacuation decision making; environmental emergencies and includes the latest CPR and AED standards. The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice with two days for outdoor practical scenarios. Due to COVID-19 we require that some theory review will be completed online, thereby reducing classroom based sessions to 4 days.
Course Dates: Saturday & Sunday September 25, 26 & October 2, 3
Course Times: 9:00am – 5:00pm
This course is designed for wilderness professionals- guides and leaders, those who are going on extended and remote expeditions, or those wishing to work as professional ski patrollers in Alberta. This 10 day program involves a high level of commitment from the learner. With its advanced standing by Alberta WH&S graduates can work as “first aid attendants” with in Alberta.
Course Dates: Monday – Friday, September 27 – October 1 & October 4 – 8
Course Times: 9:00am – 5:00pm
The 5 day (40 hour) re-certification program is a great fit for those who are re-certifying for the first time or for those who prefer their learning to move at a less intense pace. The program offers ample opportunities for discussion, review and practice of both theory and skills and ensures that learners leave with a thorough understanding of course topics. Course runs Friday – Tuesday 8:30am – 4:30pm
The Wilderness first aid standard in terms of content and course length, this course is suitable for avid outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor activity leaders, teachers and instructors. The program covers patient assessment and treatment; evacuation decision making; environmental emergencies and includes the latest CPR and AED standards. The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice with two days for outdoor practical scenarios. We have now placed some of the course theory online in order to reduce the amount of in class time. The online course elements must be completed prior to successful certification.

If you don’t have much time and you don’t need a certificate, this is a great course for you! This practical 8 hour course looks at potential injuries and emergencies that may arise during your backcountry adventure and focuses on how to manage them effectively. Note: This is a practical, non certified course which usually takes place in the Bragg Creek area.
