Remote First Aid – Thursday Evening, Saturday and Sunday

Outdoor Centre LogoAn ideal course for the back country enthusiast and weekend warriors! This course is not appropriate or adequate for trip leaders, instructors or those undertaking extended travel in remote areas. A Knowledge Review is completed online, as is the Final Exam. Classroom based sessions are 2.5 days.  Participants are required to complete the Knowledge Review, Final Exam and Skills Components of the course in addition to attending all course sessions for successful certification.

Wilderness Advanced First Aid Re-Certification – Weekend
Sep 21 – Sep 24 all-day

Outdoor Centre LogoThis course will re-certify your 40-hour qualification. The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice, with two days of outdoor practical scenarios. For successful certification, participants must complete the online learning components: Intermediate First Aid Exam and the WAFA Final Exam, complete all required skills and attend all course sessions.

Successful course participants will receive Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification and Intermediate First Aid and Level C CPR re-certification (for the workplace). The                               Intermediate First Aid certification is recognized by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety. There is no pre-requisite for this program.

Course Dates:   Thursday September 21 (6:00 – 9:30pm)

Saturday & Sunday September 23 & 24, 2023 ( 9:00am – 5:00pm)

Wilderness Advanced First Aid – Weekends

The Wilderness first aid standard in terms of content and course length, this course is suitable for avid outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor activity leaders, teachers and instructors.  The program covers patient assessment and treatment, evacuation decision making, environmental emergencies and includes the latest CPR and AED standards. The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice, with two days of outdoor practical scenarios. For successful certification, participants must complete the online learning components: Intermediate First Aid Online Exam and the WAFA Final Exam, complete all required skills and attend all course sessions.

Successful course participants will receive Wilderness Advanced First aid certification and Intermediate First Aid and Level C CPR certification (for the workplace). Wilderness First Responder
Sep 26 – Oct 6 all-day

Outdoor Centre LogoThis course is designed for wilderness professionals- guides and leaders, those who are going on extended and remote expeditions, or those wishing to work as professional ski patrollers in Alberta. This intense 9 day program involves a high level of commitment from the learner.   For successful certification, participants are required to complete the Intermediate First Aid Online Exam, the WFR Chapter Review Exam,  the WFR Final Exam, the required skills components and attend all course sessions.

Course Runs:  Tuesday – Friday, September 26 – 29 (9:00am – 5:00pm) and Monday – Friday, October 2 – 6, (9:00am – 5:00pm)
