This course focuses on self-rescue skills so that you can look after yourself when out on the water and is great for those just entering the whitewater arena or for those who have already dipped a paddle and found it to their liking! This course will re-certify your 40-hour qualification. The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice, with two days of outdoor practical scenarios. For successful certification, participants must complete the online learning components: Intermediate First Aid Exam and the WAFA Final Exam, complete all required skills and attend all course sessions.
Successful course participants will receive Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification and Intermediate First Aid and Level C CPR re-certification (for the workplace). The Intermediate First Aid certification is recognized by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety. There is no pre-requisite for this program.

This practical 8-hour course looks at potential injuries and emergencies that may arise during your backcountry adventure and focuses on how to manage them effectively. Note: This is a practical, non-certified course which usually takes place in the Bragg Creek area.
