The calendar below shows our public courses offered through Yamnuska Mountain Adventures and the U of C Outdoor Centre. If you are interested in booking a private course for your organization please Contact Us.
An ideal course for the back country enthusiast and weekend warriors! This course is not appropriate or adequate for trip leaders, instructors or those undertaking extended travel in remote areas. A Knowledge Review is completed online, as is the Final Exam. Classroom based sessions are 2.5 days. Participants are required to complete the Knowledge Review, Final Exam and Skills Components of the course in addition to attending all course sessions for successful certification.

Sunday – 9:00am – 5pm Field Day
If you don’t have much time and you don’t need a certificate, this is a great course for you! This practical 8-hour course looks at potential injuries and emergencies that may arise during your backcountry adventure and focuses on how to manage them effectively. Note: This is a practical, non-certified course which usually takes place in the Bragg Creek area.

This course is designed for wilderness professionals- guides and leaders, those who are going on extended and remote expeditions, or those wishing to work as professional ski patrollers in Alberta. This intense 9 day program involves a high level of commitment from the learner. For successful certification, participants are required to complete the Intermediate First Aid Online Exam, the WFR Chapter Review Exam, the WFR Final Exam, the required skills components and attend all course sessions.
Course Runs: Tuesday – Friday, April 2 – 5, (9:00am – 5:00pm) and Monday – Friday, 8 – 12, 2024 (9:00am – 5:00pm)
