Safety and Awareness

Designed to improve safety near moving water, this course focuses on hazard recognition and river assessment. Participants gain the skills to identify safe versus unsafe conditions, helping to prevent incidents in the field.

This program teaches practical decision-making skills using RMAM’s exclusive “Hazards to Observe” (H2O) system, developed for those working near moving water. Core skills include hazard identification, swimming strategies, partner rescues, throw bag use and structured river crossing practice.

Swift Water Rescue

This 2-day Swift Water Rescue course provides progressive, hands-on training aligned with NFPA 1670 and 1006 standards.

On Day 1 the program introduces personal safety, open water swimming and self-rescue principles. Day 2 expands on these skills with a focus on equipment use, team-based rescues and advanced techniques for a range of swift water environments.
