80-hour Wilderness First Responder and Intermediate First Aid bridge

The Bridge Program allows you to build on your 40-hour Wilderness First Aid and Intermediate training to earn your 80-hour Wilderness First Responder and Intermediate First Aid certification. The 80 hr Wilderness First Responder Program is a comprehensive, professional level program.  It is the “industry standard” for professional responders such as guides, leaders and specialized search and rescue teams. 

This is the right course for you if:

  • You need a course that complies with ACMG requirements.
  • You need a workplace first aid certificate for a low or medium risk workplace, or a high hazard workplace that is less than 20 minutes from a 24-hour health care facility.
  • You do NOT need OFA 3 equivalency for working in B.C. e.g. B.C. Ski Hill.
  • You need equivalency at OFA 1 level in B.C.

Program Duration:

The Bridge program includes 4 days of hands-on learning and practical skill-building activities, supplemented with self-paced online learning.

Includes:

Digital course manual and comprehensive online learning package. 

Pre-requisite:

40-hour Wilderness First Aid and intermediate First Aid certification, completed no more than 1 year prior to the start date of the 80-hour Wilderness First Responder and Intermediate Bridge Program.

Wilderness First Aid Certification:

  • Valid for 3 years.

Intermediate First Aid with Level C CPR & AED certification:

  • Approved by Alberta Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Valid for 3 years.
  • Recognized in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Equivalence can be sought in BC at OFA1 level.
