The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice, with two days of outdoor practical scenarios. This course re-certifies those holding a current  80 hour qualification.  The course will will focus on skills and scenario based activities.  For successful certification, participants must complete the online learning components: Intermediate First Aid Exam, WFR Re-Certification Chapter Review Exam and the WFR Final Exam, complete all required skills and attend all course sessions.

Course sessions are daily from 8:30am – 4:30pm

Classroom based sessions are 2.5 days.  For successful certification, participants are required to complete the Basic First Aid Online Exam, the Remote First Aid Final Exam, the required skills components and attend all course sessions.

This course is designed for wilderness professionals- guides and leaders, those who are going on extended and remote expeditions, or those wishing to work as professional ski patrollers in Alberta. This intense program involves a high level of commitment from the learner. It is delivered over 11 days, with 9 teaching days and 2 days for self study.  For successful certification, participants are required to complete the Intermediate First Aid Online Exam, the WFR Chapter Review Exam,  the WFR Final Exam, the required skills components and attend all course sessions.

This course will be hosted through Yamnuska Mountain Adventures. 

Sessions run 8:30 – 4:30 daily.

This course is designed for wilderness professionals- guides and leaders, those who are going on extended and remote expeditions, or those wishing to work as professional ski patrollers in Alberta. This intense program involves a high level of commitment from the learner. It is delivered over 10 days, with 9 teaching days and  1 day for self study.  For successful certification, participants are required to complete the Intermediate First Aid Online Exam, the WFR Chapter Review Exam,  the WFR Final Exam, the required skills components and attend all course sessions.

This course will be hosted through Yamnuska Mountain Adventures.

Outdoor Centre LogoAn ideal course for the back country enthusiast and weekend warriors! This course is not appropriate or adequate for trip leaders, instructors or those undertaking extended travel in remote areas. Classroom based sessions are 2.5 days.  For successful certification, participants are required to complete the Basic First Aid Online Exam, the Remote First Aid Final Exam, the required skills components and attend all course sessions.

This course re-certifies those holding one of the following certifications:

        • RMAM Advanced Adventure Medic certification.  Certificates that expire no later than February 28, 2023 are eligible for re-certification.
        • Advanced First Aid (recognized by Alberta OHS)
        • OFA 3
        • Wilderness First Responder with Advanced First Aid

The course will will focus on skills and scenario based activities.  For successful certification, participants must complete the online learning components, complete all required skills and attend all course sessions.

Course sessions are daily from 8:30am – 4:30pm

The Wilderness first aid standard in terms of content and course length, this course is suitable for avid outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor activity leaders, teachers and instructors.  The program covers patient assessment and treatment, evacuation decision making, environmental emergencies and includes the latest CPR and AED standards. The course is presented by blending classroom theory and practice, with two days of outdoor practical scenarios. For successful certification, participants must complete the online learning components: Intermediate First Aid Online Exam and the WAFA Final Exam, complete all required skills and attend all course sessions.

Successful course participants will receive Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification and Intermediate First Aid and Level C CPR certification (for the workplace). The                                   Intermediate First Aid certification is recognized by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety. There is no pre-requisite for this program.
